First answer: allow users to choose scalable or not. 😉

In my opinion, visually indicating importance that is not important. Other opinions may vary, though.

Applying importance to cetain tabbles sure smells like tagging a tag, which is why you got rid of categories. I believe users can create tabbles to indicate importance… imagine a "hot" tabble, or a "draft", "current". "expired" set of tabbles. We can use your tool to convey importance in ways that makes sense for each of us!

(Just let us drag tabbles to tabbles! 😎 )

I think your modes are good.

Why I would not use scalable tabbles: Scalable would result in certain tabbles being larger, conveying importance. The way I use Tabbles means that even though I commonly use one tabble more than another it does make it more important. It just may be a more common. For example, one customer may supply 200 sample docs for me to work with. If I tag them all for that customer it does not mean that customer is more important than another.

    Does that make sense?

I guess it really has no correlation with the removal of categories, but the resulting discussion made me think of it. 🙂

Glads to hear it is on the slate to be done!

    Here is what I mean:

Maybe I have Acme, XYZ Corp, and MegaInc tabbles. If I could drag those 3 tabbles into a "customers" tabble instead of tagging all the individual files, that woudl be handy. Net result would be that all the items tagged "Acme", "XYZ Corp", or "MegaInc" would now also be tagged with "customer". Yay! 😀

I have not upgraded to 1.1.5 yet, but will today, I think.

With categories gone, I think allowing us to put tabbles in tabbles is now crucial for usuability.

This seems like one of the most important feature needs to me, as well. I find that I go in bursts "tabbling" stuff, then the interface sits behind my work and I forget to tag. I would love the ability to right-click a file in explorer and reach Tabbles features: both to tag and to invoke a search.

Usability-wise, the tagging would need to allow multiple categories to be selected in the single operation. What I mean is that having to right-click and choose each Tabble to associate with a file would be very cumbersome. A persistant function that allows one to select multiple tabbles during the tagging operation would be slick.

Thanks for being so responsive, by the way!

    1) Tag from file explorer right-click
    2) Invoke Tabbles search from file explorer
    3) Menu scaling – text is too tiny to read on my Netbook (HP Mini)
    4) Hot-key zoom and navigate without mouse
    5) Optional default Tabbles setup

    Thanks!
