Thanks mrdna, you’re the best 🙂
in reply to: next version: 1.5 or 2.0? #2014Yes you’re right, but our goal now is not to be coherent and have a meaningful version naming, but:
– to make sure that as many blog as possible write about us
– that people come to the website and install the softwareAll the rest is not important right now.
Think of it this way: if you knew nothing about Tabbles, what would you be more interested in?

:O
Why?
Plus, it’s free until 1000 files, then a naaaasty nag-screen comes up reminding you to buy!in reply to: stop the balloons! #1993"DrTeeth" wrote:
Hello there!
They are useful. How about being able to configure for how long they appear?
I’d just like to kill the one that tells me Tabbles has started when I boot up.
Makes sense… I forwarded this to Maurizio.
P.S.: I love your signature

dude, I have no idea what you mean here, could you please explain? 😮
in reply to: How to remove a file from a tabble? #1983hello there, and welcome to the forum! 😀
right click on a file (in Tabbles) and click on "Untag"

yes my friend, it is possible! Just press ctrl to copy a tabble into another tabble… 😀
My mother told me many times ‘read the manual…’ 🙂
Thanksnot even the manual, it’s an hint you see in the software! Try and drag a tabble onto another tabble and read the text that comes out…

1)I’d really like to see the use of Metadata to help tag or suggest tagging. By having an option that will pull Metadata out of files and populate the tag list (or maybe a subset metatabble list 🙂 ) would really move this into the personal DMS space. So far so good though…
2) Put links to Tabbles and Tabbles Support in the Help menu
I reserve the right to make 3 more of these 😆
1) we know my friend, we know… this is also on the to-do list… but not so high though
2) well, there is something already… but good hint, I’m noting this down 😀
Looking forward for the next 3
– did you try the 1.4.10beta2?

"DrTeeth" wrote: Just have a couple of suggestions to do with a mouse with wheel and side buttons.
When viewing files in Tabbles, it is annoying to have the file display move left-right with the wheel when the default windows behaviour is up-down. Can this be changed or made an option?
yes, this is on our to-do list, although not very high…

I find that the back-forward buttons do not work in Tabbles. It would be very useful if they did. My personal preference would be to have the ability to move forward and back through my views – just as one would in a browser’s history.this one too…

Finally, there seems to be a small delay that does not exist in my other file management utils when displaying a folder of files. Could this be fixed please?this is more complicated: the reason why the delay doesn’t exist in any other file manager is that they don’t query a db each time while Tabbles does. We can make it faster, but it’s never gonna be as fast as Windows Explorer, simply because it does way more work than Windows Explorer.

in reply to: Thumbnail Views for PDF, Doc files etc #1968oops, we forgot that,
I’m not 100% sure but I guess this would be a looooot of work as it requires opening the doc, loading the first page, taking a snapshot and save it… I don’t think we’ll do this anytime soon – also it’s just the second time we hear it.
Just FYI, on top of the list we have the "shared tabbles" feature (check here).Cheers,
A.

"mrdna" wrote: My thought was something tiny and self-contained, all but link functionality stripped out. More of an advertisement/toe-in-the-door sort of app. ("Just think what the full version could do for you!")
I get your point, but unfortunately things don’t work that way… strip-it down would actually be a huge work as the most of the GUI should be modified (i.e.: when you drag’n’drop a file into a tabble, something else should happen, like a pop-up or something…).
But anyway, very very soon we’re moving to Freemium, meaning that instead of 30days trial there will be a version that allows you to tag up to 1000 files, and then starts giving you a nag-screen (but doesn’t prevent you to tag more stuff)… I guess it’s even better this way, isn’t it? 🙂
in reply to: Link only Tabbles? #1961Hello mrdna!
well, technically it’s possible, but I fail to see the purpose of such a stripping down… it wouldn’t be faster nor lighter, it would just have some stuff hidden.
There are a bunch of bookmarks managers, most of them are web-services and browser plugins.Portable: we’re working on that! 🙂
Thanks, A.
in reply to: stop the balloons! #1958Hello there!
do you know that you can configure the auto-tagging rules in order to show the balloon or not?
Whenever you see a balloon, try and click on "edit this rule" and then uncheck the "show a pop-up which allows one-click tagging".Did you know this already? If not, what kind of solution would you have in mind?
Thanks, 🙂
A.
in reply to: Windows XP Tablet Edition Support #1942Uh, do you mean to add support for multi-touch and stuff like that? Well, we can think of it, but I can’t see it up in our most-important-to-dos 😮
