Dear Tabbles users and followers, we are happy to announce the release of Tabbles 3.1.24, containing a major new feature and major bugfixes.
The major new feature is the new thumbnail system: Tabbles now shows thumbnails for any kind of file (.avi, .pdf, .mp3, .mp4, etc.) that also has a thumbnail in Windows File Explorer. This helps locating the right file by eyeballing (after, of course, you have narrowed down the choice by combining tags). Here is a screenshot:
The major bugfix is on the Outlook plugin. If you had problems with Outlook (e.g. Outlook blacklists the Tabbles plugin because it uses too many resources) now they should hopefully be gone. To our knowledge, these problems occurred if you had many folders in Outlook, or if you used Outlook together with Exchange.
Note: if Outlook blacklisted your Tabbles plugin, you will have to reenable it manually as follows:

There were also other bugfixes which you can read about in the changelog.
(Note: the previous releases, 3.1.22 and 3.1.23, were not released to the public because they were customizations for specific customers).
See you next time!
Installed the update without problems and the thumbnails look fine. Next step that would make Tabbles even better is to preview the documents in a pane similar to MS-explorer’s preview-pane.
Hi there, installed the update, what went fine!
I never have had any problems with the Outlook -plugin so I can’t judge the bugfix on that one ;-).
As far as the new major feature with the thumbnails, I gave it a try but quickly went back to the old view. So far I have only labeled documents and no photo or videos. For me the thumbnailview for documents gave a bit of a messy, less organized view, but hey, that’s just a matter of taste I guess. Building the thumbnailview took a little time (several seconds, first the thumbnails and than the tabbles) (about 800 documents on a i5 16GB RAM, 2GB Graphics and SSD-drive), where the old view was there almost immediately. And I like speed and no lag :-).
So bottom line, for me no visible improvements, but still a great fan of Tabbles 🙂
