Hey, guys, i just found your software while i was searching for a tagging software which can be an alternative to aconex file sharing system. Your software is too damn good and it gives the ambition to do more. Just check aconex, even i can pay you for the development of the software.
For construction business, we need tags in a multi tagging system to organise the files from each discipline so each file have to have at least 10 tags according to what they are and which building they are related etc.
While you check aconex you will see what i want. I wish a Main folder in the harddisc D, named 101 (the code of the project) under it there will be diciplines like architectural, civil, structural, infrastructure, IT you named it. Then document types; contract, charts, presentation, drawing, specification, purchase orders, bill of quantity, bim model etc. You can find these from aconex. If needed i can send screen shots.
So what i want is a set of complete functions what aconex does; in my hard drive. With this way you can reach the perfect product to sold for architectural firms. 😉
Cheers
Guys,
thanks for the comments! 🙂
– About the forum: we’re working on moving the whole site to WP (from Joomla + Phpbb + mediawiki + WP) and we’re waiting for a guy to deliver a proper working template… when this will be done, signing in the forum should be easy. We had to move from phpbb as it’s painful to manage, full of spam and every little customization (even cosmetic) takes many hours of work! We know about uservoice, it’s kinda like getsatisfaction (which we’re already using but moving out). The main issue with those is that we’d like to have a community active on different softwares: e.g. all our manuals on our wiki were done by our community.
-About the portable: its sounds interesting what you’re doing, please let us know precisely what it is! The issue with sharing on the portable is that the portable can only use one disk at the time (it could be improved but it would take a lot of work and we don’t see it being worth it as not many people use the portable).
Thanks,
Andrea
First of all, thanx for the greatest tagging solution of all. Where were you all these years? Great software people. Great, inspiring, life-saving piece of software art…
As I am a “portable” guy, i tried your portable download, and I was kind of disappointed for not being able to have the sharing feature in a portable way. So, I took the liberty of creating my own launcher, in order to be used with PortableApps platform (http://portableapps.com). I think it a “boost-up” feature, as it enables one to take full advantage of tabbles – and the collaboration features – without the need of a “prepared” environment.
There are a couple of things I am trying to figure out – like windows explorer shell extensions – but in general it seems to work like a charm. I know I cannot redistribute, so I am holding this for myself. But I thought I give it a shot and let you know, in case you are interested in this. And I could certainly use some advice on how to get a fully functional PortableApps Tabbles experience.
That’s all for know. Keep up the good work
PS: I am posting this here as a comment, as I too could not find a way to register in your forums…
Dear Andrea / Hello Team
Your move from PHPbb to bbpress is not the best option!? I’m wondering why (small but good!) software companies with clear core competences in development and user support (incl. feature request, roadmap etc.) still keep on running this kind of tools. Please check out http://uservoice.com/fullservice and compare… THIS is how you could track all issues, do a feature request process by ranking, be informed when something new is happening AND even search is working 😉 etc.
Have a thought on this and try hard(er).
Cheers,
Dan
Hello there!
NOTE: the whole website is extremely WIP, we’re moving from Joomla to WordPress so bear it with us if things don’t work 100% now 🙂
Karmapowered: the featured you’re asking for sounds like sci-fi to me! Anyway, we’re soon releasing an API that will allow 3rd parties to develop plugins… so maybe you can find someone to build something like this for you?
Stephanie: that feature has been on our to-do list forever!!! Question: how many people are you and how many licenses would you be interested in purchasing? We’re working on other stuff now, but priorities also depend on what our users are asking for: if it makes sense economically we may develop a list view soon.
Thanks, Andrea
This looks like it might be a great solution to the filing problems we’re having at my organization, but I’m very frustrated that there doesn’t seem to be any way to select a list view, similar to Windows Explorer, that will enable us to see more files at once. The icon view in this program is so clunky-looking, and takes up so much space, that it may be the determining factor that keeps us from using Tabbles. Is there something I’m overlooking that will enable a more usable view option? All I see if the “Compact” option under the View menu, which is not nearly compact enough.
Thank you!
Hello,
First of all, thank you for sharing Tabbles with us, for no extra fee for home-users.
I hope you will read this comment, as I haven’t been able to register for your forums.
Anyway, In my short time of testing it, and in my loooong search of the ultimate document managing tool for the average home user, I can say I am pretty impressed so far.
I like the fact that the tool comes as an overlay to the explorer, because most other options I found either messed with Windows in ways that it didn’t seem to like (inducing crashes), or proved to be way beyond the simple “Plug&Play” solution that I was looking for.
If I want to use Tabbles, it is to manage my growing collection of videos, photos and games. The one thing that Tabbles currently lacks for me to achieve Nirvana in that department is the ability to add pictures to any file that I have tagged, like the cover of an album, and custom information, like a clickable URL (and I stress clickable).
This would allow me to manage files as “music”, composed by “Michael Jackson”, identify them by the jacket of the album “Thriller”, and click on the URL of any of the files (Amazon, iTunes, etc.) to share it with my family or colleagues, for example.
Another useful feature of this would be for me to identify on the spot what that game “mod”(ification) is (thanks to an image), trace back the source I got it from, and get an update, if needed. The gamers community would love you for this one.
How feasible would this be ? I would even consider buying a license at that time, so useful it would be for me (and I am certain a lot more people too). I will probably end up buying a license anyway, even if you don’t implement that request, but it’s worth asking 🙂
I hope to hear from you soon.
My best regards.
