As far as I understand from the Tabbles.net website (https://tabbles.net/buy-tabbles/), the “Tabbles Home” license allows 4 users (see comparison table) to share tabbles on up to 3 different machines.
However, according to EULA 2.1.1, “One Software Product licence can be installed and used by one single user only” and to 2.1.2 “One Software Product license can be installed and used on not more than three (3) computers/OS instances, by one single user only”.
Both statements refer to a single user, not 4.BTW, how are users defined? Windows users? SQL server users? Other?
Can the “Tabbles Home” license be used by up to 4 windows users on the same PC? On different PCs on the same LAN?
Is there a limit on the file number that may be tagged under the “Tabbles Home” license?
Thanks for clarifying 🙂
Hello!
actually the websites reads: “Tabbles Home
Personal use only, not commercial use.
You can share tagging with up to 4 different users.”Basically, if you have and your 3 friends of family members, purchase a license each, you’ll be able to share your tagging among each other.
The EULA refers to what you’re legally allowed to do: if you buy a Home you are allowed to install it on 3 machines, but there are some cave-at and the sharing won’t work.
About the concept of user: we check the Tabbles’ username and we check it also with the Windows user… but you shouldn’t really worry about it. Basically with the Home, if you want to use the sharing, each license can be used by one person, which needs to create a Tabbles user.
I hope this helps 🙂
BR,
AndreaHi, The EULA probably needs to be rewritten for Tabbles 3. This is one reason why we are still in beta.
I hope this will clarify:
one Tabbles Home license can be used by only one person. But that person can use Tabbles on 3 different machines. (provided he uses the same Windows user name on all machines — otherwise Tabbles assumes they are different persons).
With 4 licenses of Tabbles home, 4 persons can collaborate with each other; and each person can use up to 3 different machines. This means a maximum of 12 machines can collaborate together.
For non-commercial purposes.
Can the “Tabbles Home” license be used by up to 4 windows users on the same PC?
No, only one person per license. Even on the same machine, to have 4 windows users you need 4 licenses.
“how are users defined? Windows users? SQL server users? Other?”
This can be confusing. There is only one Sql server user (called tabblesClient). So we can rule this out. So we only must distinguish between Tabbles users and Windows users. A Tabbles user cannot use more than one Windows username; but he can use up to 3 different machines. 🙂
Hi,
Thanks for the clarification.
In our case, we would use Tabbles with a personal purpose only. Some files are linked to work, but still private, such as pay slips. Those files would be managed by Tabbles (part of our private admin docs).
So just to be sure: if I want to share tabbles with one family member on the same PC (set up as 2 different windows users), I will need to purchase 2 Tabbles Home licenses.
Then, install Tabbles on the PC and register both Home licenses on the Tabbles installation.
This setup will allow to share tabbles bidirectionally between both users (defined and shared by either users).
Should both family members login from different PCs on the same LAN, files and tabbles can still be shared.
In this case, and given the discount, it makes sense to purchase the Home license 3-pack.
Thanks again,
Pierre

Yes, all this is correct. 🙂
