Hello Nefycee, and welcome to the forum! πŸ™‚

We speak many languages but Tabbles doesn’t speak that many yet…but of course we’re planning on localizing it other languages, and Deutsch is on top of our todo list.
By the way, do you think you could help us with the translation? πŸ™‚ In order to translate all you need is a simple tool or Excel and we could do a first pass of software-translation (using google translate or something) meaning that all that the translator would have to do would just be checking if the translation makes sense and fixing it where needed…
If you’re up for the challenge, we’ll be happy to give you a shiny-blinking-flaming license for Tabbles Business (which will soon include Archiving/Backup and versioning!) as well as an autograph from all of us! (woo-hoo!) and a glass of Weizenbier whenever the occasion comes πŸ˜€

this offer goes to everyone in the forum!

      Please let us know!

      Best regards,

      Andrea

Es ist mir ein VergnΓΌgen ^^

I like the Idea of this prog and this new kind of Interface and design
So let’s hope more people will try and use it when they can read and understand it
I have noticed that many people said it is complicate
A better localizing of the prog and the faq (!) would help a lot I think

Yes you’re right: we made a lot of truly unconventional choices for the GUI and now we’re thinking of "hiding" some elements of the interface and leave them to "power users".

There is already a FAQ on the website… do you think we should have it in the software as well? (We can place a link to it in the program…)

As for the localization: I won’t make it to upload today the stuff you need… it’s gonna be the first thing I do tomorrow.

P.S.: our project manager will get back to you about the other feature requests you did.

      Best regards,

      Andrea

Edited – there is a new .xls file with some comments in the next post!

      Translation stuff

      Ok guys, here you are!

      How it works:
All you get is an xls file (you can open it with Excel or the free OpenOffice) and you get the original text written in English and a rough translation done by Google Translate.
All you need to do is to check the strings in your mother language, compare them with English and fix them if they sound stupid.

      The rules:

      1) Don’t mess up with the order of the lines: those lines will be copy&pasted again into another app, and it’s crucial that the order in which they’re pasted is the same as the one we provided. I guess you understand why πŸ™‚

      2) Beware of special characters: there are some stuff like the {N} or the [N] or the [1] that should NOT be touched in anyway! Those are handed specially as a part of the program will replace them with something else.

3)Remember to be consistent: if you translated the word "Combine" with a certain word once, you should stick to that word.

      4) Feel free to delete the other languages in the file if it makes it easier for you: just don’t mess around with the lines in YOUR language!

      5) Try and use the italian as extra reference: when translating from English to a more rich language (as German or Russian) which have for instance masculine/feminine/neutrum, you often need to understand what is the subject of the sentence, and maybe the string won’t help you. In those cases, my suggestion would be to use google.com/translate and translate from Italian to your target language – the italian language was made by us developers, and therefore it’s supposed to be correct πŸ™‚

I guess that should be it.

      —————-

If you don’t see your language in the translation: you’re still very welcome to send a translation to us! I suggest you advance that way:

      1) you copy ALL the english text from the excel spreadsheet.
      2) you paste it into google.com/translate (after selecting the correct output language).
      3) you copy the output of google.com/translate and paste into the excel spreadsheet making sure that the last line in English correspond with the last line in your english – as the spreadsheet looks now.

      ——————————-

      A final word:

To those who didn’t understand it yet, currently Yellow blue soft is a bunch a of crazy guys working in the basement. We did quit our jobs and started working on Tabbles as we think that it’s just about time someone brought a relational database into file management and made a desktop application that looked better than edgy and boxy crap you see just about everywhere.
But that’s not all: we’re also enterpreneurs and therefore we’re looking forward to sell our products, grow a customer base, hire people, make some money, grow the company, develop more products, hire more people, make more money and finally buy Microsoft (or what’s left of it… πŸ˜€ ).
What you’re doing for us now, is helping us developing our product to further realize our dream. In return we’re giving you a license of our pumped-up and not yet fully developed Tabbles Business…this is not much but it’s all we can afford right now.
On that day when we will (hopefully) be a larger company and have many employees, please:
      1) Try and remember us as the crazy guys working in the basement.
      2) In case we forgot, please come and knock at our doors and remind us that once we were the crazy guys working in the basement and that you were the once helping us out with our dream. I hope we won’t have forgotten you at that point, cause if we did it would mean we also forgot our dream.

      Thank you all,

      Andrea and the Tabbles team.

      Andrea, here is my translation.
      Hope it suits you.
Maybe, if I see it "life" it might need some beauty changes.
I will then correct this again and send it to you.

      Greetings,
      Bob

      Bob,

thank you SO MUCH for your effort, it’s indeed highly appreciated.

We’ll send you your license asap and will check your version tomorrow and get back with some feedback only if we see something very wrong in it…otherwise you’ll the dutch translation in the next Patch.

We will probably be doing the default database in dutch too, but I think I can handle it using google translate (if you something silly in that, please let me know also).

      Best regards and thanks again,

      Andrea

      Hello hello!

      we’re not sleeping, don’t worry πŸ™‚
The latest modifications for the German language have been pasted into the appropriate files… but which are the appropriate files?

      Introducing a .resx

The appropriate files are the .resx files…and WTF is a .resx?

      – A .resx is a Visual Studio resource file that contains information for the localization.
      – You can manage a .resx using several different tools, my favourite is, a free open-source tool that you can download from here: Zeta resource editor

How to use Zeta Resource editor:
      1) Create a project and name it "My dog loves my cat, non-platonically", or maybe just "Tabbles"
      2) Right click on the project file and add the .resx files to it
      3) The empty strings are in yellow, use the sort and the search functions to find your strings

The latest .resx (from today) are attached!

      —-
      FAQ:

      * I would like to help by translating a new language: how do I add a new language to the .resx?
-> post something here or PM me: we’ll provide you with all you need (a drafted translation done with google.com/translate)

      * Ok, and what do I get if I translate your silly software into my fancy language (i.e. Crimean Gothic)
-> you get the fanciest thing you can get from us, which is a license for Tabbles Business. Optionally you can also request a signed picture from the whole Tabbles’ team dressed up as the Village People guys.

      * Where is the old and sweet .xls file gone and why do I need to install this crazy software from Zeta Reticuli?
-> The .xls was meant as a middle-format in order to have the translation drafted by Google Translate… and this is still feasable, just post here or PM if you want to translate the software in your favourite language. If you just want to fix the current language, please install Zeta resource editor.

      That’s all folks!
