Briefly about sudoku
The name sudoku online is of Japanese origin, an abbreviation of the term "suji va dokusin ni kagiru", which in Hungarian means "digits can appear only once".
It has an incredibly simple rule. Given a 9 * 9 square grid divided into 9 smaller 3 * 3 tables. Each digit (1-9) can appear only once in each row, each column, and each small square. Some of the digits are entered in advance, the rest must be deduced by the player. One finds out the tricks of solving on the fly. The reward is a sense of accomplishment as increasingly difficult puzzles can be solved in the shortest amount of time possible.
The game embarked on its conquest journey from the Far Eastern archipelago after a tourist accidentally came across a newsstand in Tokyo in 1997.
Yet sudoku is not a samurai achievement. Swiss mathematicians also dealt with a similar logic game called the “magic Latin square” in the 18th century. From 1895 various magazines published similar number puzzles in Paris, but these did not become popular due to lack of interest.
After the 2000s, the game became a worldwide sensation. Most magazines regularly publish puzzles, online portals offer a free interface to millions of players, and even appeared in the form of wood and cardboard sheets from various manufacturers. Children can also play with it easily, the puzzles are made with different symbols for them, e.g. fruits, colorful symbols, lovely little shapes.
Nowadays, many people also play sports, from time to time competing in major international competitions. According to the organizers, year after year there is more and more interest and development, the empty fields are filled by the competitors faster and faster.
Fans say sudoku is a stimulating brain exercise with a plethora of positive effects. It takes you away from everyday stress while encouraging attention and logical thinking. It improves memory, gives the player self-confidence. It is specifically recommended by the American Alzheimer’s Association for the purpose of maintaining health. Some of the real obsessives liken it to meditation or an esoteric experience to guess the missing numbers.
Web sudoku has also moved the imagination of many scientists and mathematicians since its inception, and many have analyzed it over the years. They calculate that 5,472,730,538 different puzzles can be created.
It is a proven fact about the game that at least 17 digits must be entered to have a clear solution to the problem. If there is less than this at the outset, there are always several solutions. Any astonishing puzzle can be created, even where 77 out of 81 numbers are given, but the remaining 4 blanks can still be filled in correctly in two ways.
It has been calculated that 6 670 903 752 021 072 936 960 different digits can be arranged in the 9 * 9 square.
Sudoku provided a number of computer and math lessons for science.
Sudoku my first kid logic game test
When I was in high school, it was a big fashion to take Sudoku puzzles published in newspapers or already in book form during breaks between classes. These memories were evoked in me by the game Sudoku My First. This is actually a kids version of the classic sudoku game, I think it’s a very imaginative “invention”!
I recommend the game above all to develop mathematical competencies, but of course this is related to a number of other skill areas as well.
The game has 48 “task sheets” that can be grouped according to difficulty levels. I am very sympathetic to the fact that the creators of the game covered several age groups, as they can be played according to colors, shapes, numbers and pictures, so they thought of smaller and larger ones, so both the teacher and the parent can differentiate according to the age of children. , or depending on the level of development of the child. By this I mean that there are 5 year olds who are already “big boys or big girls” and he already wants to solve more difficult tasks, he uses numbered game cards, but there are 7 year olds who prefer the lighter version even more.
The first sudoku puzzle is recommended for ages 4-10, for 1, up to 4 players and the rule here too is that a figure can only appear once in a row, a column and an area. Problem solver develops strategic thinking very well, just like attention and concentration. I like to give the child time to figure out the right solution because it also increases my self-confidence that He has reached the end of the game on his own. If you don’t get along very well, I’ll try to steer you toward the solution with questions that lead to this game as well, because that doesn’t take away the joy of discovery yet.
We can also develop social competencies by organizing a competition for the game, so to speak, for several players. This is most popular with older children, who no longer have any problems solving more difficult tasks, so they are happy to compare their knowledge with their peers. The joy of playing together is not negligible even in a player competitive situation!
As an educator, I would also like to use the game in skill development sessions because it can motivate kids really well. It can be taken out either at the beginning of the session as an introduction, as a kind of attunement to the lesson, or during the session, when the attention slows down a bit and at the end, as a conclusion.
Whether they play alone or several people, it makes the player or players engage in constantly thinking activities, it develops number recognition and the ability to organize.
What makes me sure is that it also gives the child a sense of success, but at the same time teaches them to “endure” failure, they can face an intellectual challenge appropriate to their age, and thereby playfully develop their skills.
